Sam Darnold Throws TD Pass In Panthers' Preseason Opener
2 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold completed two of three passes for 16 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 23-21 preseason victory over the Washington Commanders. Darnold saw the field after Baker Mayfield started the game and led the offense to a field goal on its opening drive. Rashard Higgins was on the receiving end of Darnold's touchdown pass, which was a perfectly-placed ball thrown while under pressure in the red zone. Mayfield and Darnold are currently competing in camp for the starting job, but it's been reported that the job is Mayfield's to lose. Anything can happen if Darnold impresses in the preseason, but neither player is worth drafting in one-quarterback fantasy football leagues.
