6 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Sam Gaviglio was an advisable play against the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday, but that one did not work out as planned. Despite performing well against good offenses, Gaviglio faltered against one of the worst in the American League. He was rocked to the tune of five earned runs across 3 1/3 innings pitched, surrendering seven hits and two walks while striking out three. The rough night saw his ERA blow up by over a run, rocketing up to 3.66 from 2.51. Gaviglio’s next start comes at home against the Washington Nationals on Sunday. You don’t want to be using him for that one given his inability to get past the Rays.--John Smith
