Sam Gaviglio Pitches Decent But Can’t Earn Victory
6 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Sam Gaviglio was not a recommended fantasy play on Friday against the New York Yankees, and while he didn’t fully deliver, he did enough to keep his team in the game. Gaviglio only lasted 4 1/3 innings pitched (tossing 101 pitches), allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out six. Toronto ended up winning 6-2, but Gaviglio was not eligible for the victory after failing to hurl five innings. Gaviglio continues to pitch solid overall, but he has to go deeper into games. He hasn’t gone more than 4 2/3 innings in four of his last five starts. Until he starts to do so, he won’t have much fantasy relevance.
