6 years agoToronto Blue Jays starter Sam Gaviglio surrendered four runs on seven hits through 5 2/3 innings on Monday night in a 7-0 loss to the Baltimore Orioles. Gaviglio seemed to be pitching strong until the sixth inning when he gave up an RBI groundout to Chris Davis before a three-run shot by Trey Mancini. He now has a 4.82 ERA through the month of August, and a 5.02 ERA on the season. Gaviglio has been a model of inconsistency this year, as he normally surrounds a good start with two bad ones. He is a good source of strikeouts, but that comes at the expense of bad ratios. He should only be used as a streamer in the deepest of leagues, but even then he is a risky pickup. Fantasy managers that like to live on the edge can pick him up for his next start on Sunday against the lowly Miami Marlins.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller
