Sam Hilliard Goes Yard In Defeat
3 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Sam Hilliard went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two strikeouts in an 8-1 loss to the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Hilliard was responsible for the only Colorado run as he swatted a solo home run off of reliever Reiss Knehr in the top of the second inning. He picked up a single later in the contest as well, he was the only player to record multiple hits for the Rockies. The 27-year-old is getting a chance to play almost every day and has knocked a pair of home runs over the last seven games. Overall, he's slashing .176/.247/.419 to go along with five home runs, nine RBI, and one stolen base over 74 at-bats. He's just a deep NL-only option now at this point.
