Padres Designate Jake Arrieta For Assignment
3 years agoThe San Diego Padres have designated Jake Arrieta for assignment on Tuesday, all but ending his brief tenure with the club. Arrieta signed with the Padres on August 16 after the Chicago Cubs let him go earlier in the year. In 24 starts this season, he owns a 7.39 ERA with an ugly 17.7 K% and 1.77 WHIP. He's been even worse on the west coast, pitching to a 10.95 ERA across four appearances. If he gets another chance with a team and makes the big league club, there's no reason for fantasy managers to pay any attention to the right-hander. In a corresponding move, the Padres activated pitcher Javy Guerra from the 60-day injured list.
