Jimmy Garoppolo In 49ers Plans In 2021
4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) has his status for playing again in 2020 up in the air, but that hasn't quelled speculation around his future with the franchise beyond this year. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday, "I expect Jimmy Garoppolo to be our starter next year," even as the injured QB is on the books for north of $24 million in each of the next two seasons. The 49ers have been constrained by the salary cap this season, which could force them to make tough decisions surrounding a signal caller that threw for fewer than 150 yards in three of his six starts this year. Those in keepers season-long formats may have their eye on stashing Garoppolo through his injury, but his best path to fantasy relevance remains through staying the starter in San Francisco for '21 and beyond.
