4 years agoMiami Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara fanned six batters over 2.1 innings of work on Saturday. Five of his six strikeouts came on four-seam fastballs (which tickled 97 mph) and sinkers. In two spring outings, he has yet to allow an earned run in 4.1 innings although he did allow two unearned runs in the latest outing. Miami will be looking to Alcantara to lead the young rotation in 2021 as he's two years removed from throwing 197.1 innings. He had a respectable 22.7% strikeout rate last year but his other strength comes from inducing ground-ball outs. Last season, he allowed a well-below-average launch angle of just 6.8 degrees (the league average was 11.9). Given enough run support, Alcantara could be a sneaky-good fantasy addition in 2021.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
