Saquon Barkley Not In Giants Long-Term Plans?
3 years agoSNY's Ralph Vacchiano doesn't believe that New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is in the team's long-term plans. He's heading into the final year of his contract in 2022 and is guaranteed $7.2 million. Cutting him is pointless, since he'd still count for $7.2 million against the salary cap. With the Giants needing to clear $40 million in cap space this offseason, trading Barkley is an option. But if Barkley is back to full health, he could really help a struggling Giants offense out, especially in the passing game. Not many teams would likely be interested in trading for Barkley given his injury history and his cost. Vacchiano doesn't think Barkley will be with the team in 2023, though, as they likely won't want to invest in a RB with his injury history. The 25-year-old will be a risk/reward fantasy selection in fall drafts.
