Darling allowed four goals on 24 shots in his last appearance against the Columbus Blue Jackets on November 17. He has been relegated to a backup role with the emergence of Curtis McElhinney. Darling has a 2-3-1 record to go along with a 2.99 goals-against average and .903 save percentage. The Hurricanes are playing well, having won three straight games.
