Scott Kingery Clears Waivers, Optioned To Triple-A
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies infielder/outfielder Scott Kingery cleared waivers and will join the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Kingery, who signed a $24 million contract in 2018 before playing a Major League game, was optioned off the 40-man roster to potentially clear room for Luke Williams, the 29th ranked prospect in the Phillies' organization. Kingery has been one of the biggest disappointments in baseball after signing the aforementioned contract when he was considered an elite prospect. He is 1-for-19 (.053) this season with 12 strikeouts. Last season he batted just .159 with a .511 OPS across 113 at-bats. Perhaps playing every day in the minors can help Kingery, that's the hope for the Phillies, at least. Fantasy managers don't need to roster Kingery in any format until he shows he can still hit in the minors.
