Scott Kingery Picks Up Hit In Bid For Starting Job
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies infielder/outfielder Scott Kingery picked up a hit in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers. Kingery is competing with Adam Haseley, Roman Quinn, and Odubel Herrera for the starting job in center field. Kingery is coming off a miserable 2020 where he hit just .159 in 36 games. While his bad 2020 has Kingery buried in fantasy rankings, there is hope the former prospect can rebound in 2021. Kingery dealt with an extended case of COVID for three weeks before camp last summer and said he never fully recovered even once he tested negative. Having a full offseason to recover could help Kingery return to the player he was in 2017 when he batted over .300 with 29 steals across Double-A and Triple-A. He's worth a flier as a multi-position bench player at the end of fantasy drafts.
