4 years agoColorado Rockies relief pitcher Scott Oberg (shoulder) is on track to return to the bullpen this year, according to Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post. The 30-year-old right-hander missed the entire 2020 season due to blood-clotting issues in his throwing arm, which eventually required thoracic outlet surgery on his right shoulder in September. Oberg told reporters that team doctors will monitor the blood flow in his arm throughout the season. He was excellent for the Rockies back in 2019, which was his last full season, when he compiled a 2.25 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 58:23 K:BB across 56 relief innings. The plan is for Oberg to compete with Daniel Bard for the closer gig this spring. His value would greatly increase if he were to win the job, but he could be a useful setup man in holds leagues as well.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
