6 years agoWashington Nationals closer Sean Doolittle was called upon to earn a five-out save as his first act of the 2019 season on Sunday, but was unable to meet the call in Washington's 6-5 victory against the New York Mets. Doolittle was thrust into a difficult situation, inheriting a two-on, one-out mess in the eighth inning of a 5-3 game, and New York's fourth run scored on a bloop single before they tied the game one batter later. Doolittle then pitched a scoreless ninth inning to get the win after Trea Turner's walk-off home run in the bottom of the inning. Doolittle is not the problem in Washington's bullpen and should be given a long leash in fantasy as well.--Nathaniel Green
