Sean Doolittle Picks Up First Save
4 years agoCincinnati Reds left-hander Sean Doolittle tossed a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday. Doolittle struck out one and faced just three batters, needing just 12 pitches to secure his first save of the season. Overall, Doolittle has a 2-0 record, 4.66 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in 9 2/3 innings of work. Doolittle getting the save chance is notable considering that closer Amir Garrett has blown two saves this year, including one on Monday night, and Lucas Sims has a 6.23 ERA. Doolittle is worth a speculative pickup in fantasy in case he's able to wrestle the ninth-inning job away from Garrett.
