2 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Sean Manaea couldn't escape the fourth inning Monday, as he allowed nine runs (four earned) on eight hits and a walk in 3 1/3 innings. Manaea struck out four batters and took his fifth loss of the season against five wins, as the Padres fell to the Detroit Tigers 12-4. Manaea had recorded a quality start in seven of his previous nine starts, but this performance lifts his season ERA and WHIP to a somewhat pedestrian 4.33 and 1.28 with 104 strikeouts in 104 innings this season. He remains a solid fantasy starter despite this bump in the road.--Doug Goldring - RotoBaller
