4 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Sean Manaea will start the opening game of the series against the Rays on Monday. Manager Bob Melvin said that Mike Fiers could also pitch in the series- but that he'd have a better idea of the order following Sunday's contest. Manaea has looked good for the Athletics so far, pitching to a 3.04 ERA in 23 2/3 innings with a 22:5 strikeout-to-walk ratio. It's a good matchup, as the Rays have posted the eighth-worst strikeout rate in the majors so far.--Tim Capurso
