Sean McVay Praises Bryce Perkins, Non-Committal On Backup QB
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay praised both quarterbacks John Wolford, the current backup, and Bryce Perkins, the No. 3 quarterback, after the team's 24-20 loss to the Houston Texans in the second week of preseason. Wolford started the game, taking five sacks and leading the team to two field goals. Perkins took just one sack and drove the Rams down the field for their only offensive touchdown. McVay praised both. Of Wolford, he said, "Overall, I felt like he had good command, made good decisions, saw the coverages the right way," while noting that he was facing the Texans' first-team defense. He called Perkins a "playmaker" and said, "he instills that belief with guys around him." The backup quarterback situation is "something that we're continuing to evaluate."
