Sean Murphy Expected To Play Next Week
5 years agoOakland Athletics catcher Sean Murphy (knee) will make his spring training debut on March 3, according to manager Bob Melvin. Murphy has been easing his way into playing after knee surgery last October, but the A's backstop should have plenty of spring training left to be ready for the season. Murphy hasn't played much at the big league level. He hit .245 in 20 games last season, but has always been a strong on-base guy in the minors thanks to a walk rate north of 10 percent at most of his minor league stops. He's not the most attractive catcher option in fantasy, but if he can keep his OBP north of .300, he should score some runs in a potent Oakland lineup.
