3 years agoThe Atlanta Braves traded left-handed pitcher Sean Newcomb and cash considerations to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday in exchange for relief pitcher Jesse Chavez. Newcomb was designated for assignment on Tuesday, and the Cubs ultimately decided to deal for the southpaw instead of losing out on him through waivers. The 28-year-old has struggled recently in his major league career but posted a 3.16 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and a 65:29 K: BB over 68 1/3 innings in 2019. Newcomb is a speculative add in deep-league formats if he enters Chicago's rotation. Chavez will provide the Braves bullpen depth but is not on the fantasy radar in 2022.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
