4 years agoOutfielder Phillip Ervin was claimed off of the waiver wire by the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, adding to the club’s outfield mix. Ervin had been designated for assignment by the Reds last Friday after opening the year 3-for-35 at the plate. Used primarily against left-handed pitching, Ervin has K’d in seven of 14 at-bats versus righties this year. For the Mariners, they’ll be banking on Ervin’s upside (.797 OPS in 2019) as he joins the outfield mix. He’s unlikely to get everyday at-bats out of the gate, but could play his way into a larger role, making him a name that fantasy managers will want to keep on their respective radars.--Jesse Borek
