4 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mallex Smith was outrighted to Triple-A on Friday, officially removing him from the club’s 40-man roster. It has been a precipitous fall for Smith, who started in right field for Seattle on Opening Day, but slashed just .133/.170/.178 in 14 games, which earned him a demotion to the club’s alternate training site. Having led the Majors with 46 stolen bases last season, the Mariners’ move to outright Smith indicates that he is likely not in the club’s future plans, zapping any fantasy intrigue for the remainder of the 2020 year.--Jesse Borek
