Seiya Suzuki Hits In Cages
2 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (finger) hit in the batting cages on Saturday for the second day in a row. Suzuki went on the injured list on Monday with a sprained left ring finger, but it looks like he's making good progress and could return when he's eligible next week. However, it's unknown if the Cubs will want him to go on a minor league rehab assignment first. The 27-year-old has held his own in his first taste of big-league pitching this year, hitting .245/.344/.432 with four home runs, 21 RBI, 20 runs scored and three stolen bases in 139 at-bats. However, he had started to slow down before his injury, going 5-for-26 (.192) with nine strikeouts in his last seven games. Jason Heyward has benefitted from more playing time in right field with Suzuki out this week.
