Seiya Suzuki Not Starting Friday
2 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the Miami Marlins. Suzuki has gone just 9-for-50 (.180) with two homers, five RBI, six runs scored and 15 strikeouts in 12 games since the All-Star break, so he could probably use a day off heading into the weekend. Overall, the 27-year-old Japanese outfielder has hit .252/.327/.427 with eight home runs, 31 RBI, 29 runs scored and six stolen bases in his first 234 major league at-bats. Rookie Nelson Velazquez is starting in right field on Friday and is batting fifth against Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera. Velazquez doesn't have much big-league experience, but he's gone 6-for-18 (.333) with three home runs and 10 RBI in 10 games over the last two weeks.
