Seiya Suzuki Sitting In Game 1
2 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (finger) is out of the starting lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader on Monday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Suzuki is missing his third straight game after he jammed his finger while sliding into second base last Thursday. It remains to be seen if the 27-year-old will return for Game 2 on Monday, but in any event, he shouldn't require a trip to the injured list. The Japanese outfielder has been a nice asset for the Cubs in his first MLB season, hitting .245/.344/.432 with four home runs, 21 RBI, 20 runs scored and three stolen bases in his first 139 MLB at-bats. Nelson Velazquez, who was just called up from the minors, is starting in right field and batting seventh in Game 1 against Brewers left-handed prospect Ethan Small.
