3 years agoNew York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov stopped 36 shots in the 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. Only a late first period Kyle Okposo power-play goal kept Varlamov from getting his first shutout of the 2021-22 season. The Russian goaltender came into the night with just one win in eight appearances (1-5-1). The goalie did stop all 28 shots he faced at even strength. That had been an issue at times during the season. Varlamov is now 2-1-1 in his last four starts while yielding just eight goals. Maybe like the Islanders' season, Varlamov's year is turning around as well. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
