Shane Baz Continues To Bring The Heat At Double-A
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays prospect Shane Baz was dominant again on Thursday night. The right-handed starter struck out eight batters without allowing a walk in five innings of work. He also gave up just three hits. Baz now has 43 strikeouts in just 27 innings of work, equating to a 41% strikeout rate. The 21-year-old hurler has always missed bats but he's struggled to throw consistent strikes at times. That has not been the case in 2021 with a 2% walk rate. In 2019, he issued free passes at an 11% clip. With the ability to hit triple digits and three promising pitches, Baz has a very high ceiling and could reach the majors later this year or definitely in 2022 as long as he stays healthy.
