Shane Baz To Join Rays Rotation This Weekend
2 years agoTampa Bay Rays right-hander Shane Baz (elbow) will join the team's starting rotation this weekend against the Minnesota Twins, but it's still undecided on what day he will pitch, according to manager Kevin Cash. The 22-year-old will make his season debut this weekend after making his fourth minor league rehab start for Triple-A Durham on Sunday. He allowed just two earned runs on eight hits while walking four and striking out 20 in 13 innings on his rehab assignment. Baz will take the rotation spot of Ryan Yarbrough, who was optioned to Durham on Tuesday. The young right-hander has plenty of fantasy upside after he looked great in his first three big-league starts last year (2.03 ERA, 18 K's) in 13 1/3 frames.
