Shane Bieber Avoids Arbitration Tuesday
3 years agoCleveland Guardians ace Shane Bieber avoided salary arbitration on Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $6 million deal. Bieber was limited to 16 starts (96 2/3 innings) last year because of right shoulder issues, but when he was healthy he was solid, posting a 3.17 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with a 33.1% strikeout rate and 8.2% walk rate. With better health in 2022, the 2020 American League Cy Young winner could once again dominate for fantasy managers as an ace. Only four pitchers since 2018 have a higher strikeout rate than Bieber. The right-hander appears to be fully healthy as we approach Opening Day, so if his ADP is down slightly based on last year's injury, swoop him up.
