Shane Bieber Effective In No-Decision On Opening Day
3 years agoCleveland Guardians starting pitcher Shane Bieber allowed one run across 4 2/3 innings in an Opening Day start against the Royals. Bieber threw just 72 pitches as manager Terry Francona said starters will likely piggy-back with relievers early in the season as pitchers continue to build up their pitch counts after a shortened Spring Training. That's bad news for any fantasy manager looking for a win from Cleveland starters, but the reward could be worth the wait as Francona has a history of letting his starters throw more pitches and innings than most teams. As for Bieber, he looked sharp in the short start as he picked up four strikeouts and didn't walk a batter. Hopefully the Guardian ace can complete five frames in a good matchup versus the Reds next time out.
