Shane Greene Earns MLB-Leading 11th Save
6 years agoDetroit Tigers closer Shane Greene logged another save on Tuesday in the nightcap of a two-game sweep over Boston. The veteran reliever is perfect in save chances on the season, and is tied with Kirby Yates with an MLB-leading 11 saves on the year. With Tuesday's efforts, Greene now boasts a stingy 1.38 ERA and 0.62 WHIP on the year and has struck out 13 batters in 11 innings of work. The Tigers are exceeding expectations right now, and Greene's opportunities to rack up saves will depend on Detroit's ability to keep carrying leads into the ninth inning, but he has absolute job security and he's a strong candidate in all formats.
