3 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Shane McClanahan struck out six batters over five scoreless innings on Thursday, as he improved to 2-0 on the season in a 7-2 win over the Royals. McClanahan allowed just three hits and no walks in what was his best start of his career to date. After going no more than four innings in each of his first three starts, McClanahan is starting to get a shot at some wins as he's thrown at least five innings in each of his last three starts now. Over his last three starts against the Mets, Blue Jays and Royals, he's allowed five runs in 15 1/3 innings of work while striking out 17. It's early into his career, and growing pains are bound to pop up at some point, but McClanahan is starting to look like he could be a good fantasy starter in any format. He's still available in about 60 percent of leagues, so managers should go scoop him up off the waiver wire now.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
