5 years agoThe Seattle Mariners are starting Shed Long in left field for the first time for Wednesday's game versus Jose Berrios and the Minnesota Twins. Long has made every one of his starts at second base this season but is shifting to the outfield in order for his bat to stay in the lineup. With Dee Gordon returning from injury and Mitch Haniger on the IL, the move seems to fit well as the M's want to see what the 23-year-old can do with more at-bats. So far Long has hit a modest .230 with no homers, six runs, and two steals in 17 games at the big league level. He swatted a crisp .293 with six bombs at Triple-A before his call-up in mid-May showing the potential for double-digit totals in steals and home runs as a major leaguer. There's not much fantasy appeal here yet in anything other than AL-only formats, but Long is an intriguing dynasty threat if his tools come together.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
