4 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder/designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo is once again out of the mix for Saturday’s contest against Seattle and left-handed Justus Sheffield. Manager Chris Woodward noted that while Choo is battling a calf ailment, there are “other things” affecting him as well, which may help explain why he is not among the starting nine for the third consecutive contest. Choo has scuffled mightily against southpaws this season, going 3-for-20 with seven total bases. It appears that the veteran is no longer an everyday member of the Rangers’ lineup, which significantly decreases any season-long appeal that he may have had.--Jesse Borek
