Shohei Ohtani Not in the Lineup Against Left-Hander

6 years agoLos Angeles Angels starter/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani is out of the lineup on Tuesday against Rangers left-hander Martin Perez. Ohtani is not expected to hit on days directly before or after he pitches, however, Tuesday's game does not fit that mold. It seems like manager Mike Scioscia is shielding Ohtani against left-handers, whom he struggled to hit in spring training. If Ohtani is truly in a platoon along with only starting a handful of games at DH per week, it will limit his value as a hitter. He is best utilized in leagues with daily lineup changes where you place him in and out of your lineup. With the Angels facing left-hander Matt Moore on Wednesday, Ohtani may not hit again for a while.--patton
