Shohei Ohtani Shifts Up To No. 2 Spot In Monday’s Lineup
4 years agoLos Angeles Angels designated hitter Shohei Ohtani will bat second Monday against the Astros and left-hander Framber Valdez, marking the first time since 2018 that he will start a game batting in the No. 2 hole. Ohtani snapped out of a recent funk Sunday, cranking his fifth homer of the year. While he may see an increase in DFS attention due to his move up the lineup, he has scuffled mightily against lefties this year, going just 2-for-22 with three total bases. Ohtani has continued to hit the ball hard this season (45% Hard Hit rate), but the success has been lacking. Should the second spot be a permanent shift, he should see an increased value by hitting in front of Mike Trout.
