Shohei Ohtani Strikes Out 11 In Loss
2 years agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani struck out 11 batters in a losing effort on Thursday as his club fell to the Rangers 2-0. The right-hander worked six innings while allowing two runs on eight hits and no walks, tossing 98 pitches in the contest. Ohtani worked out of a jam in the first inning when he gave up three consecutive singles to open up the ballgame, but went on to strike out the next three batters to get out of the frame unscathed. He went on to allow a solo homer in the fourth and an RBI double off the bat of Corey Seager in the fifth for the only scoring of the game. Ohtani didn't help out his cause by going 0-for-4 at the dish in what was another quiet outing from the Halo's offense. The 28-year-old will sport a 2.81 ERA and 1.02 WHIP into his next contest versus the Athletics next week.
