Shohei Ohtani Struggles On The Mound, Thrives At The Plate
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (9-2) hitter didn't look good in Friday's start, pitching just 3.1 innings in the 10-5 defeat to the Houston Astros. He took the loss giving up six runs on nine hits with just one strikeout and no walks. Ohtani's been pretty consistent this season, so it was surprising to see him struggled so mightily. He has a 3.36 ERA with a 28.8 K%, 1.12 WHIP, and 12 quality starts across 21 pitching appearances. Ohtani did help out with his bat, though, going 1-for-1 with a home run and two walks. He's had an unspectacular second half at the dish, as he's hit .222 with a .819 OPS since the All-Star break but still owns a .259/.360/.615 slash line with 44 HRs, 94 RBI, 90 runs, and 23 SBs over 137 games. Fantasy managers should start Ohtani in every format on both sides of the ball, which shouldn't change for the remainder of the season.
