6 years agoAngels rookie Shohei Ohtani (elbow) is reportedly nearing a return to the field after getting cleared to hit two days ago. Ohtani took live batting practice today and may return as soon as Tuesday to DH for the Angels. It has not yet been confirmed, but Ohtani is most likely done pitching for the season. There were rumors of Tommy John surgery for him in the future, and while that may be true, there is hope for him to play the rest of the year a hitter. The silver lining here may be that he could find even more playing time in the Angels lineup with this news. It's just a shame that fans and fantasy owners are deprived of watching him display all of his talents on the field.--Kev Mahserejian - RotoBaller
