4 years agoLos Angeles Angels pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani will not play in Monday's game, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Ohtani was involved in a collision at the plate when Jose Abreu attempted to score on a dropped third strike, and Ohtani went down to the ground momentarily in pain. Fletcher reports though that Ohtani was not pulled from the game due to injury, and that Ohtani said he is feeling fine apart from some general soreness. Ohtani was spotted rushing back onto the field at the end of the game to celebrate Jared Walsh's walk-off home run, so it appears he is likely OK, although he will be evaluated on Monday. The Angels are likely just wanting to protect the oft-injured two-way star, so Ohtani should hopefully be back in the lineup within the next game or two.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
