Sonny Gray Doesn't Make It Out Of The Fifth
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Sonny Gray allowed one run over 4 2/3 innings of work in a 5-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. Gray struck out five and walked two in the no-decision. The veteran hurler needed 87 pitches to get through two outs in the fifth inning before departing. Gray didn't have his best stuff on Wednesday as he posted a very average 26% CSW (called strikes+whiffs) rate. It probably helped that he faced a weak Pittsburgh lineup. Gray will take a 0-2 record, 3.55 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 36 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings into his next start, which comes against the San Francisco Giants.
