4 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Sonny Gray (back) opened the season on the 10-day injured list after he came down with mid-back spasms during spring training. Gray and the team are reportedly hoping for a mid-month return to the mound. The veteran made a three-inning start in an intrasquad game on Wednesday and emerged with no issues. Manager David Bell told reporters, "All indications are is he's on track. It's just a matter of time. We don't have a date set. His next step will be in Louisville at the alternate site. It's one more step towards getting back here; increase the workload, increase the amount of pitches he throws and go from there." It looks like fantasy gamers who drafted Gray will have him back at full speed by the end of April, at the latest.--Matt T - RotoBaller
