3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Spencer Howard (blister) is expected to make his next start against the Pirates, according to Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Manager Joe Girardi said Howard was removed on Monday because a calloused-over blister ripped off. Howard was struggling versus the Nationals anyway; he allowed four earned runs in just 3 2/3 innings as the pitching prospect has had trouble pitching deep into games. A matchup at Pittsburgh is certainly tempting for fantasy managers, but Howard has completed the fourth inning just twice in seven starts. He remains a strong prospect in dynasty leagues, but Howard offers little to redraft managers.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
