4 years agoArizona State first baseman Spencer Torkelson is expected to be selected by the Detroit Tigers with the first overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft on Wednesday. According to reports, no hang-ups are anticipated in contract talks between the two sides. In 129 games at Arizona State, Torkelson batted .337 and hit a whopping 54 home runs. He should develop into a productive all-around first baseman at the MLB level and could progress quickly through the minor league system. Some scouts think Torkelson has the most major league-ready power bat they've ever seen, which is saying a lot.--Jakob Ashlin
