Spencer Torkelson Tops Prospect Group At Instructional League

4 years agoDetroit Tigers first/third baseman Spencer Torkelson is the top name among a group of the club’s prospects that will report to Florida for an instructional league for further development. The No. 1 pick in the 2020 MLB Draft out of Arizona State, Torkelson has already vaulted up the ranks to be chosen as the club’s top prospect per MLB Pipeline, and No. 4 in the Majors. Detroit opted not to bring Torkelson up for the stretch run in ‘20, but he could presumably play his way onto the big league roster with impressive outings in autumn and the spring. Fantasy managers in futures leagues have likely already scooped him off the wire, but he should be added in any formats where he is available.--Jesse Borek
