Spencer Torkelson Heating Up At High-A
4 years agoDetroit Tigers prospect Spencer Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two walks on Thursday night. The first-overall selection of the 2020 draft has had a sluggish start to his pro career and is hitting just .241 with four homers in 22 games but he's showing signs of breaking out. Over the past eight games, the first baseman has gone 10-for-29 (.345) with all four of his homers. Despite prodigious power, Torkelson has always had a lot of swing-and-miss to his game even going back to his college days but his strikeout rate sits at a reasonable 23% right now. He's also getting on base at a solid clip thanks to his 19% walk rate. The best first-base prospect in baseball should develop into an excellent fantasy contributor.
