Spencer Torkelson Will Not Make MLB Debut In 2020
4 years agoDetroit Tigers first/third baseman Spencer Torkelson was the No. 1 overall pick back in June during the 2020 MLB Draft. He immediately vaulted up to being ranked as the club’s top prospect per MLB Pipeline, in addition to being the No. 7 overall prospect in the Majors. But Tigers general manager Al Avila confirmed Thursday that the power-hitting corner infielder would not be seen on the big league roster this year. Detroit is likely taking it slow with his development, in addition to his service time. That notwithstanding, aggressive owners could target him off the wire in keepers formats with an eye toward a possible 2021 debut.
