Starling Marte Avoids Concussion
3 years agoOakland Athletics outfielder Starling Marte (head) seems to have avoided a concussion after a scary play during Friday's 11-10 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. He was hit in the head by a pitch in the fifth inning but stayed in the game and ran the bases. However, he exited when the Athletics came out on defense later that inning. Manager Bob Melvin said that Marte was checked for a concussion and didn't show any symptoms. He's been great with the bat this season, hitting .320 with 10 HRs, a .463 slugging, 41 RBI, 75 runs, and a whopping 42 SBs. He's valuable in every fantasy league with his average and speed, but he's even better in those that count OBP with his at .398. He's still day-to-day but shouldn't miss much time.
