4 years agoMiami Marlins outfielder Starling Marte (rib) has begun his hitting progression and soft toss, and hopes to begin taking batting practice next week, according to Christina De Nicola of MLB.com. Marte has been out since April 18 after suffering a non-displaced fracture of his 12th rib while swinging at a pitch. Prior to the injury, Marte had been off to a good start this year, slashing .316/.420/.491 with two home runs, three steals, eight RBI and 15 runs scored. Barring any setbacks, it looks like Marte could begin a rehab assignment by the end of the month.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
