3 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Starling Marte went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored in an 8-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. Marte started off 0-for-2 in the contest before swatting his ninth double of the season in the bottom of the fifth inning. He would come around to score off a Francisco Lindor triple in that same frame and also reached base with a walk later in the game. After a lackluster April in which he slashed .224/.290/.318 across 85 at-bats, Marte has stepped his game up in May. Overall the 33-year-old speedster is rocking a .275/.315/.409 batting line with four home runs, 25 RBI, and seven thefts. He should continue to improve as the season wears on.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
